A day of rest.......

Sunday.....a day of rest!  We decided to just "hang out" around home today...it's cloudy and drizzly and just feels like a lazy day.

I normally refrain from posting my political point of view...but sometimes I get tired of bleeding from biting my tongue!
Armstrong and Getty in the morning....
Andrew downloads the radio talk show daily and we listen to them in the morning. This morning (which was actually yesterday's episode-we get them a day later here through ITunes) they were talking with a woman from the Sacramento, CA area. She told them that her house had suffered severe damage from a fire. When she went to rebuild she was told by the permits department in her city that they would not allow her to restore her home because she was in a flood zone! In the meantime, her insurance company is paying for she and her family to rent elsewhere....and she's still paying the mortgage on a home she's not allowed to fix or live in! Her home is surrounded by hundreds of other homes in that same flood zone-and people are living in them.  This is what happens when government gets too much power. The insanity of it all!  (Sorry......I just had to say something about this......living overseas it's becoming more apparent that America is headed down the same path as many European countries......too much government, nanny state mentality, high taxation, etc). Okay, I'm done with my little tirade!  ***"Atlas Shrugged" anyone?!? ***

Around noon we headed over to the big Albert Heijn in town to stock up on supplies and groceries. It's nice to go to the store together with the car at least once a month-sure makes life easier!  The way the shopping carts are stored in the racks at the stores here is great!  They are chained together, and to release the chain you insert a fifty cent coin. When you are done using the cart, you put it back, insert the chain and your coin comes back out. There are no shopping carts all over the parking lot, and no employees having to go out to gather them up!  I don't understand why that system isn't used in the States.

After we got home, we took Sammy for a walk through the woods. We noticed one of the large trees there is wrapped in burlap and has been painted 1/2 way up...Hopefully it's not marked to take down.

We found lots of bushes with white, red and pink berries...

After our walk, we went downtown and sat down for a nice cup of tea and coffee. Andrew had a cigar and decided to enjoy it while sitting outside watching the world go by:

We had Sammy with us at the restaurant......he was drooooooling so I just had to take a picture!

On our way home we walked through a Hofje (a little garden surrounded by homes).
