Wednesday, April 3, 2013 La Ferme de Reconniere, Normandy, France

We got up early knowing we had a drive ahead of us, heading towards Caen, France.

On the way we wanted to stop in Rouen to see the cathedral. We had to go around Paris. Of course, it was a nightmare with all the traffic. We had tried to avoid Paris altogether...it just is not a good place to go with your car!

We finally got around that area and headed towards Rouen.

Found a place to park and walked over to the cathedral.

Come to find out later the cathedral where Joan of Arc had been was a different one in Rouen, right around the corner from where we had been!  Aye!

Soooooo, back in the car and on to Caen:
There were several of these along the way. Toll booths where you just stick your credit card in and pay to use the highways!  Every time we paid it was between 3 and 8 Euros!

We had booked a room at a place called L Ferme De Reconniere, which is near Omaha Beach.

We spent about an hour in the lounge area, which had a cozy fire going in the fireplace. At around 8:00 we had dinner at the restaurant on the grounds. It was lovely and delicious!
